One of the most infuriating things a participant may hear in the Love Island villa is that they’re fake. Yet when farmer Will learned that his fiancée Jessie was being accused of phony sentiments for him by Olivia, Lana, Casey, and Maxwell, tensions nearly erupted over six weeks into the winter 2023 tournament.
“When you’re in [the villa], everything is like ten times more dramatic than it would be outside,” Maxwell says to The Tab from his London home after leaving the show. Everything is turned up to eleven. So, throughout that time period, events moved quite rapidly. I was completely lost and had no idea what was going on or who had said what.
After talking to Casey about Jessie’s behavior in the villa and her lack of tears during the Casa Amor re-coupling, Maxwell admitted on the show that he had doubts about her affection for Will. Will then alleged that all of the other islanders were “moving like snakes” and got Olivia and Lana involved.

Maxwell claims that he has rewatched the drama that unfolded after his accusation because he was involved in it. I believe it demonstrates that several individuals within the facility had doubts about Jessie. He continued, “They didn’t just show that it was me and Olivia questioning things, which is what it felt like at the time. I think it was a pretty accurate depiction of the situation.
A “fake” contestant, in the eyes of some, is someone who enters the villa more for the attention they will receive than for the chance to discover true love. As a result of this year’s new no social media ban, candidates’ internet followings have been severely diminished.

Despite the new restriction, Maxwell warns that Islanders “will still get terrible stuff” whether their accounts are active or inactive. When they left [the villa], “everyone understood that it was going to have an impact on their social media activity.” Adding, “I think some people will be rather startled to realize exactly how much of an impact it’s made,” he does not identify any specific individuals.
Some people, upon picking up their phones, may incorrectly assume that they have a larger number of “following” than they actually have. Maxwell, though, should not fret too much over his internet reputation because, as he recently shared, “I found out I got a job at the Bank of England starting later this year.
The Liverpool University alum who just completed his Master of Arts in Finance says he plans to continue the tradition when the time comes. Regarding persuasion, I will be receptive to hearing about various opportunities. It’s not something I’m actively seeking, though.
The couple may have made their voices heard in South Africa, but since moving back to the UK, Maxwell and Olivia have avoided controversy at all costs. He recalls that they spent their first few days back together just chilling and eating fast food. This weekend, we’re going on a real date. I want to keep Olivia’s reaction a surprise.
Olivia and Maxwell were rated the least compatible couple on Love Island. But it doesn’t bother him one bit. That “everyone is entitled to their views” is what he says. We’re not worried too much by the ambient noise. Just having fun getting to know one other better and developing our already strong friendship.”
