Lake-Sumter State College recently celebrated the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Student Food Pantry at its South Lake Campus, marking an important step in supporting student success and well-being.

The new pantry was made possible through the collaborative efforts of South Lake Cares Food Pantry, the LSSC Foundation, members of the LSSC Board, faculty, staff, students, and community partners. Their shared commitment helped bring this valuable resource to life.

Designed to provide food assistance and reduce barriers to academic achievement, the pantry will serve as a vital support system for students in need. College leaders and community supporters gathered to commemorate the occasion and recognize the partnerships that made the project a reality.

The opening of the Student Food Pantry reflects Lake-Sumter State College’s ongoing commitment to building a stronger, more supportive community and ensuring that Lakehawks have the resources they need to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
