Early Life of Lil Romeo

On August 19, 1989, Percy Romeo Miller, better known by his stage name Romeo (formerly Lil Romeo), was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. His parents, Master P and Sonya C, both performed on the rap scene. He is also the nephew of C-Murder and Silkk the Shocker, the cousin of singer-rapper Mo B. Dick, and the brother of actress-singer Cymphonique Miller.

Romeo’s career got off to a quick start when, at age five, he was signed to Soulja Music Entertainment, a division of No Limit Records, for his father Master P’s benefit rap. He collaborated with No Limit on his debut album, “Lil’ Romeo,” which was released in 2001 and featured the number-one single “My Baby.” The album had a successful debut week, selling more than 200,000 copies and reaching a peak of number 6 on the Billboard 200. The RIAA eventually awarded it Gold certification.

After being published in 2002, his second studio album, “Game Time,” peaked at number 33 on the Billboard 200 and 10 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Although it didn’t fare as well on the music charts as his debut album, it was nevertheless a commercial success, selling 2,500,000 copies in the US.

The New No Limit and Koch collaborated on his third studio album, “Romeoland,” which was released in 2004 but only managed to reach number 70 on the Billboard 200. The US had over 250,000 copies sold, making it another commercial success. This was the last album he was credited as “Lil’ Romeo.”

Romeo and his father founded the music publishing company Guttar Music Entertainment in 2005. He founded the Rich Boyz rap group, his brother Valentino Miller, and their cousins C-Los, Lil’D, and Willie J in the same year. On November 22, 2005, Young Ballers: The Hood Been Good to Us, the group’s debut album, was released through Guttar Music.

However, the group subsequently broke up. In April 2006, Romeo launched his debut solo effort through Guttar Music, the digital album “Lottery.” Along with Guttar Music, UrbanDigital and GoDigital Music Group also collaborated on its release. He released this album as Romeo for the first time. In December of the same year, his second digital album, “God’s Gift,” was made available.

Romeo and his father continued to work together, and in 2007 they founded the non-explicit musical company Take A Stand Records. They started the group Miller Boyz the same year, and in September, they released the album “Hip Hop History.” He continues to produce music, releasing the compilation album “Get Low LP” in March 2009 after releasing the solo album “Gumbo Station” in 2008.

Late in 2008, Romeo founded the record company The Next Generation Entertainment and collaborated with College Boyys, his band. In May 2010, The College Boyys released “Spring Break,” their debut album, selling over 30,000 copies worldwide. Three Billboard Awards have been given to Romeo, including Rap Artist of the Year in 2001.

Romeo sought a career in acting in addition to music. His first job was a cameo in the 2001 movie “Max Keeble’s Big Move,” which was followed by a co-starring role in the movie “Honey” opposite Jessica Alba, Mekhi Phifer, and Zachary Isaiah Williams (2003). God’s Gift (2006), Uncle P (2007), ASL (2007), Jumping the Broom (2011), and Madea’s Witness Protection are some of the other movies he has acted in (2012).

From 2003 to 2006, he also played a fictionalized version of himself in the Nickelodeon sitcom “Romeo!” He participated in the 12th season of the well-known reality dance competition “Dancing With the Stars.” He competed alongside Chelsie Hightower, a professional dancer, and the two placed in the top 5.

Other television programs he has appeared on include “Celebrity Fear Factor,” “The Challenge: Champs vs. Stars,” and “The Millionaire Matchmaker” (all in 2015). (in 2018). Since 2018, he has also served as host of the MTV reality series “Ex on the Beach.”
