Michelle Yeoh, PSM (/jo/ YOH; born August 6, 1962) is a Malaysian actress best known for her appearances in Ang Lee’s Academy Award-winning martial arts film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies (1997). Born on August 6, 1962, Yeoh was raised by Malaysian Chinese of Hokkien and Cantonese descent in Ipoh. Both Janet and Yeoh Kian-teik (who passed away on November 5, 2014) were lawyers and MCA politicians, and Yeoh Kian-teik was the man behind the well-known Sri Maju express bus service.
Yeoh began ballet at the age of four, and she has been dancing ever since. As a primary student, she attended Ipoh’s Main Convent Ipoh, an all-girls secondary school. Since then, she has been dating Jean Todt, the former CEO and General Manager of Scuderia Ferrari and the current president of the International Automobile Federation (FIA). During an appearance on CBS’s The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson in July 2008, she announced her engagement to him.
