This past summer, a beloved rescue dog named, Petal, near Forest City Road was found within hours of death.
Described by Poodle and Pooch Rescue as Petal, the dog was found in July of 2021, severely emaciated, dehydrated, with her mouth taped shut and eyes matted shut. A good Samaritan initially thought the dog was stuffed, but as soon as she realized it was real, she jumped out of the car to save it.
After the discovery got public, there was a great deal of community support behind Petal’s recovery in Florida.
The somber news of Petal’s passing was shared by her forever family in a statement:
“Sadly, our dear Petal crossed the rainbow bridge. We were by her side and the last words she heard were, ‘We love you, you’re not alone and you can go’ and then she did. Our hearts are shattered but we are finding comfort in knowing that she’s at peace and is not suffering.”
Poodle and Pooch Rescue penned, “We could not have imagined a better life for Petal than the one they were able to provide. We are confident Petal left this world feeling more loved and cherished than she ever had in her entire life.
