They say it’s scarce for a young guy like myself to catch colon cancer,” Gonzalez said in the video, adding that a doctor had told him he had a life expectancy between two and five years. “I didn’t know how to take it. You know, it was devastating,” Gonzalez continued.
In the video, Gonzalez also opened up about one of the initial symptoms that led him to see a doctor in the first place. “I want to help other people and start awareness for young men to get checked for colon cancer, to get a colonoscopy. How I figured out, I was having a problem with my upper abdomen, and I was always in pain,” he said.
“Luckily, my wife told me to get a colonoscopy because I was going to get an EGD [esophagogastoduodenoscopy] through my throat because they thought it was an ulcer or something. But long story short, I wanted to start awareness of colon cancer for young men to start, to go get checked in the early ages, 30 years old.”
