Smoke engulfed a business district near Fullerton Municipal Airport after a small plane crashed Thursday afternoon, killing two people and injuring 19 others. The crash occurred in the 2300 block of West Raymer Avenue, sending shockwaves among the workers in the vicinity and prompting an immediate response by emergency services.

The aircraft-a home-built Van’s Aircraft RV-10-apparently encountered issues shortly after takeoff. Authorities say the pilot appeared to be attempting a return to the airport when the plane crashed into the roof of a warehouse, killing both people believed to be aboard.
Inside the warehouse, workers were caught off guard by the sudden impact and ensuing fire. Of the 19 injured, 11 required hospitalization, while eight others were treated at the scene. The conditions of those hospitalized remain undisclosed.
