Catelynn Lowell was born on March 12, 1992, in the city of Port Huron, Michigan. Since then, she has given birth to three sons and two daughters. Following the success of MTV’s 16 & Pregnant and its follow-up series Teen Mom (later called Teen Mom OG), the series followed Catelyn’s struggles to return to a normal life when she chose to put her first child, Carly, up for adoption.
She is a significant character in the Teen Mom series because she illustrates that being a “birth mom” and being mature and selfless are not notions that are incompatible with one another.
Theresa and Brandon Baltierra, Carly’s biological parents, are still in contact with Catelynn and Tyler Baltierra and are concerned about her well-being. Catelynn and Tyler struggled with the decision to place their daughter for adoption on Teen Mom OG, but they were able to move on with their lives by enrolling in college and getting married after the show.
Caitlin sent a message to her fans on social media on November 17, 2017, informing them that she was receiving treatment for suicidal thoughts. In January 2018, she went to treatment for the third time, prompting speculation from her Twitter followers. She cited childhood trauma as one of the contributing factors to her mental health issues at the time. According to Catelynn, Tyler and Catelynn’s third child, a girl, is due on March 6, 2019, and will be their third child.
