CNN announced Friday that actor Nicolas Cage and his Japanese wife Riko Shibata are expecting their first child. Their nuptials will take place in Las Vegas on February 20, 2021. Shibata, 26, is 32 years younger than Cage, 58, who celebrated his birthday last week.
Japanese Shibata’s connection with Cage remains unknown to the general public. In Shiga, Japan, where Cage was shooting the 2021 film “Prisoners of the Ghostland,” the pair reportedly met.
Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage has two children from prior relationships: 31-year-old Weston Coppola Cage and 16-year-old Kal-El Cage. He rose to popularity in the 1980s with roles in “Con Air,” “Face/Off,” and “Leaving Las Vegas.”
He’s had five marriages. Just four days after tying the knot with American make-up artist Erika Koike, he cancelled their marriage.
Shibata’s pregnancy was verified to People magazine on Thursday by a couple’s agent. “The soon-to-be parents are overjoyed!” said the spokeswoman.
Last February 16, Cage, 58, and Shibata, 27, were married in a tiny ceremony in Las Vegas, a date picked to honour Cage’s late father’s birthday.
Cage already has two kids, Kal-El, 16, and Weston, 31, from prior relationships, thus this is his third child. Patricia Arquette, Lisa Marie Presley, and Alice Kim were all Cage’s previous wives (2004 to 2016).
The Con Air actor married Erika Koike in Las Vegas in March 2019, but the couple filed for annulment four days later. In June of this year, their divorce was finalised.
