As noted yesterday, Cody Rhodes will miss tonight’s AEW Battle Of The Belts event due to testing positive for COVID-19. He was originally supposed to defend the TNT Championship in a rematch with Sammy Guevara. Instead, Cody’s brother Dustin Rhodes will compete against Guevara to determine an interim TNT Champion until Cody returns.
Cody delivered a status report for both himself and his wife Brandi Rhodes via Instagram stories. Multiple members of his family have tested positive and are being quarantined with him, according to the letter.
“I’m grateful to everyone who’s contacted me.” Brandi and I have been placed in quarantine with family members who have been diagnosed with Covid. When you’re dealing with such a potent illness, it can be a terrifying experience. During this difficult time, we are doing everything we can to care for and safeguard the members of our family. When necessary, I’ll remain in isolation.
Every day is more positive,” Cody Rhodes continued. “We sincerely appreciate your assistance and adherence to our need for confidentiality. To AEW, thank you for enabling me to be where I’m needed today, and for still allowing the TNT Championship to be represented. I eagerly await my return. “With all my heart!”
On Thursday morning, Rhodes posted a pro-vaccine message to his Instagram Stories, probably when he first learned of the positive test results. “Please be vaccinated — for the little kids/babies who can’t protect themselves as easily against Covid,” he wrote at the time.
