According to the reports, it has learnt that the highly awaited second season of Mike White’s “The White Lotus” will be shot in Sicily, confirming previous claims that Season 2 of the HBO drama will be shot in Italy.
According to a source close to the show, the Four Seasons San Domenico Palace in the prestigious Sicilian resort town of Taormina will once again stand in for White’s fictional luxury brand of White Lotus hotels. (The Four Seasons Resort Maui was used to film the first season of “The White Lotus,” which was set in Hawaii.) The San Domenico Palace website states that it will be closed to visitors until April 1.
HBO did not respond to a request for comment.
Season 2 of the dark comedy will star Michael Imperioli and Aubrey Plaza, as well as F. Murray Abraham, Tom Hollander, Adam DiMarco, and Haley Lu Richardson, who were recently added to the cast. Jennifer Coolidge, who played Tanya McQuoid, the grieving heiress from Season 1, will also return for Season 2.
Dominic Di Grasso (Imperioli) is a college graduate who travels to the White Lotus resort with his elderly father Bert Di Grasso (Abraham) (DiMarco). Plaza plays Harper Spiller, a wife and mother on vacation with her husband and his pals. Quentin, an English expat vacationing with his friends and nephew, will be played by Hollander, and Portia, a young woman vacationing with her boss, will be played by Richardson.
In an interview with Variety on Wednesday, Plaza expressed excitement about working with White, revealing that they had been collaborating on another creative project that “kind of got messed up by the COVID of it all.”
“I was a fan of Season 1, but more importantly, I was a big Mike White fan. So I’m very excited to work with him,” Plaza added. “I’m very honored to be on this television series, and I hope I don’t let everybody down. It seems like everyone watched this show.”
