On Monday, when Larry Rudolph, a wealthy dentist, was found guilty of murdering his wife after an African trip, her brother pledged to bury her somewhere out of Larry Rudolph’s reach.
Shortly before a court sentenced Rudolph to life in prison in 2016 for the murder of Bianca Rudolph, Vincent Finizio also prophesied that Larry Rudolph would “die alone and unmourned” and that his future grandkids would never know he existed.

From the beginning of the lawsuit, Rudolph has maintained that his wife’s death in Zambia was accidental. His attorney, David Oscar Markus, and another defense attorney, Margot Moss, expressed optimism about their chances of success on appeal.
“And we’ll be back to get a fair trial and then Larry can walk out of here a free man,” Markus said.
On her final morning in Zambia, Rudolph, who operated a dentistry business in the Pittsburgh area, allegedly shot his wife in the heart with a shotgun before concealing the weapon in its soft case to make it seem like she had accidentally shot herself while packing. During their trip, the pair went on a hunting expedition.
They further claimed he hurried to have his wife cremated and intimidated those investigating her death since he knew the police station was a good 80 miles (129 kilometers) away.
They say he planned to use the insurance money to retire to opulence with his longtime lover, Lori Milliron. Milliron was convicted of being an accessory and sentenced to 17 years in jail in June. She’s appealing the decision now.
Rudolph will have to pay a fine and give up some of his possessions in addition to paying reparations. In addition to his life sentence for mail fraud, Rudolph was also given a 20-year jail term. Martinez ruled that Rudolph’s heart issues warranted his being housed in a jail with access to medical services, so he sent him there to complete his term.
Federal sentencing guidelines mandate a life term, so the hearing on Monday centered on the financial penalties Rudolph faces, including pages and pages of financial charts documenting the flow of the insurance payments. Two houses were constructed in Arizona and Pennsylvania, and some were used to purchase an Aston Martin DB-11 and a Bentley Bentayga, both high-end luxury vehicles.
Martinez fined Rudolph $2 million and required him to pay $4.9 million to the insurance companies. The defense claims the insurance payouts exceeded $9 million, and he allowed the confiscation of the residences, automobiles, and other assets connected to those payouts. The government provided no valuation.
Bianca Rudolph’s murder was the “culmination of a lifetime spent seeking domination and control over others through wealth and power,” according to the prosecution, who had asked Judge Martinez to sentence Rudolph $10 million.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Bryan Fields suggested the severe sentence was warranted to prevent him from exacting retribution from jail, whether by filing baseless lawsuits or using hit men.
However, Rudolph’s attorneys contended that a fine of such size would prevent Julian and AnaBianca Rudolph, now adults and Rudolph’s children, from inheriting any of their mother’s fortune.
Another piece of information revealed that Larry Rudolph, who had assessed his value at $27 million in 2021 before his arrest, was now only worth about $3 million. They said he lacked the financial money to make the required restitution to the insurance companies and a fine.
According to Martinez, he and his sister were convinced by a letter from Julian Rudolph that a $10 million fine would be excessive punishment.
The children have remained mostly silent about their father’s death thus far, except AnaBianca Rudolph, who testified against Milliron, her father’s longtime lover, during her sentence. At their father’s sentencing hearing, they were noticeably absent.
Zambian and insurance company investigators ruled Bianca Rudolph’s death an accident. According to the defense’s filings, the life insurance was paid out by insurance firms, some of which were situated in Colorado.
Nearly five years after her murder, Larry Rudolph was apprehended after an international FBI operation in which agents gathered evidence and interviewed witnesses.
The prosecution claims Rudolph amassed his fortune via illegal means. They claim he shot off his thumb on a previous trip to Zambia to collect millions in disability insurance money, and they claim he cheated his dental patients by not doing fillings or drilling holes in their teeth. At the same time, they were asleep, leading to the need for root canals, all of which the defense disputes.
U.S. Attorney for Colorado Cole Finegan stated after the sentence, “Today points out that no matter how wealthy you are, no matter how prestigious you are, no matter how well connected you are, the long arm of the law will find you and justice will arrive for you.”
