Waukesha Middle School Is Getting Multiple Bomb Threats
A Wisconsin school district is the latest place to get a bomb threat after Chaya Raichik, a right-wing activist, used her Libs of TikTok account to target it.
After Libs of TikTok brought attention to it, Butler Middle School in Waukesha was hit with bomb threats for three weeks straight. Wisconsin Public Radio says that the situation started when Raichik wrote a post on March 4 that was mean to the school’s assistant director, Jeffrey Taege.

Her post was critical of Taege’s educational theory, especially his view on parental participation in school. This caused a heated argument over school policies and a widespread sense of unease in the community. Taege wrote in 2022 on Facebook, “Acceptance, equity, and inclusion should be cornerstones of our schools.”
Raichik took advantage of his message of acceptance and faked anger, which is something she does a lot when she goes after private people online. In a mean post, she put up a copy of Taege’s post along with a picture of him with his partner.

Raichik’s March 4 post got over 3,000 retweets and a lot of negative comments from people who are not LGBTQ+. It quickly spread through her large network. A lot of noise online led to a string of bomb threats, which made things worse and required the Waukesha School District and local police to act quickly.
Even though it was quickly found that these threats were not real, they showed how dangerous it is when internet rhetoric and real-world security concerns come together.
Because of these threats, the school system and the Waukesha Police Department made the school safer. In this situation, the political group Unwavering Waukesha became a strong voice for the LGBTQ+ community’s rights and safety in the district.
A group of worried parents and locals have pointed out that the bomb threats aren’t just about one thing; they’re also a sign of bigger problems with political division and how LGBTQ+ content is handled in schools.
The idea of “stochastic terrorism” has also come to the fore because of the larger conversation about these events. Security experts say that Raichik’s methods are becoming more and more similar to this type of terrorism, which involves using public forums to stoke violence by making enemies.
Following posts by the Libs of TikTok account, NBC News found about 33 cases where schools, libraries, hospitals, and other places were threatened with bombs or other forms of bullying. The number and reach of these threats show that educational, law enforcement, and social media platforms need to work together to deal with and lower the risk of random acts of terrorism that are made easier by digital platforms.
