LEESBURG, Fla. — A man was shot and killed Sunday night after deputies say he became involved in a physical altercation with a homeowner while attempting to force his way into a residence where his ex-girlfriend was visiting, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a home on Highland Drive in Mid Florida Lakes in unincorporated Leesburg around 9:20 p.m. after a report of a shooting.
The preliminary investigation indicates the man arrived unannounced at the residence where his ex-girlfriend was visiting. He became involved in a physical altercation with the homeowner and tried to force his way into the home before the homeowner fired a gun, striking him, Deputy Stephanie Earley said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
No arrests have been made and no names have been released. Detectives with the LCSO’s Criminal Investigations Bureau are continuing to investigate the shooting, Earley said.
