On Sunday evening, a violent fight turned fatal at a Dayton gas station, which claimed one life and seriously injured two others. The incident occurred at the Shell station at W Third Street and Gettysburg Avenue, drawing the immediate attention of local police and other first responders.
Responders were dispatched just before 6:45 p.m. after several calls about shots in the area. The scene quickly became a beehive of activity as police secured the location, starting their investigation with medic personnel attending to those involved.
Details Emerge About Those Involved
Authorities identified the victim as Raheem Smith, 43 years of age. According to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, Smith was transported to a local hospital where, despite medical interventions, he succumbed to his injuries. The sudden, violent nature of the incident sent shock and grief through the tight-knit community and into the faces of all who knew him.
Authorities with the Dayton Police Department have confirmed that a 41-year-old male has been arrested on charges relating to illegal possession of firearms. Authorities noted that, by law, he was prohibited from possessing the weapons he had been carrying.
