Here we are talking about Ten Persons Are Found Guilty in David Ortiz Shooting Incident by a Dominican Court. Authorities revealed on Tuesday that a Dominican court had found ten persons guilty of conspiring to kill baseball Hall of Famer David Ortiz in 2019.
The resident of the Dominican Republic, Ortiz, was ambushed by a man who got off a motorcycle and shot him in the back at close range while he was out with friends at a bar in an affluent area of Santo Domingo.
Rolfi Ferreyra Cruz, the alleged gunman, was one of two men who received 30-year prison terms from Santo Domingo’s First Collegiate Court. Eight more people were given prison terms ranging from five to twenty years.

Due to insufficient evidence, three further defendants, including Vctor Hugo Gómez Vásquez, who was charged with plotting the attack, were freed from conviction.
The hitter, affectionately known as Big Papi, was allegedly the target of a Dominican drug dealer who was envious of him, according to American private detectives employed by Ortiz.
An earlier notion by law authorities in the Dominican Republic that the hitman was paid to kill Ortiz’s cousin Sixto David Fernandez, who was seated at the same table, was refuted by the conclusions reached by former Boston police commissioner Edward Davis.
According to Dominican authorities, the hitmen mistook Fernandez for Ortiz, one of the most adored baseball players in the nation. Before retiring in 2016, Ortiz, a formidable power hitter with a ready smile, guided the Red Sox to three World Series victories, was a 10-time All-Star, and blasted 541 home runs. He resided in the Dominican Republic for a portion of the year when he was shot.
During the shooting in June 2019, Ortiz sustained critical injuries. After the incident, doctors in the Dominican Republic removed Ortiz’s gallbladder and a portion of his intestine; he then had additional surgery in the United States.
A criminal organization, the use of illegal firearms, attempted murder, and cooperation were among the charges for which the 10 men received sentences, according to a statement from the court. Authorities stated that additional information about the sentence will be made public on February 8, 2023.
