Commercial fisherman and boat skipper Elliott Neese became a household name because of his participation in the hit reality series “Deadliest Catch,” which follows the perils and thrills of fishing in the Bering Sea. Neese was born on September 21, 1982, to a family of fishermen in Port Angeles, Washington.
Neese began his fishing career at an early age, and by the time he was 18, he was working as a deckhand in the Bering Sea. After years of hard effort, he was promoted to captain and eventually in charge of his fishing fleet. Neese joined the cast of “Deadliest Catch” for its sixth season in 2010, playing the role of the ship’s skipper on the F/V Ramblin’ Rose.
Neese was on the show for five seasons, and during that time, he developed a reputation for getting into intense arguments with the other captains and crew members. On the other hand, his talents as a fisherman and a leader earned him accolades as well.
After struggling with substance abuse both on and off-screen, Neese decided to leave the show during Season 11 so he could get help. Neese has remained in the commercial fishing industry after leaving “Deadliest Catch,” and he is now the skipper of his vessel, the F/V Saga. He has also started a clothing business called Bad Latitude, which caters to anglers with apparel and gear.
Legal problems with drug use and DUI arrests, as well as criticism for his controversial on-screen behavior, have marred Neese’s personal life. But now he says he’s going to stop drinking and work on his relationships with other fishermen.
