Florida Governor Ron DeSantis appointed a new Orange County Commissioner.
Republican Governor DeSantis announced the appointment of Michael Crabb to the Orange County Board of County Commissioners. He is currently running for the District 2 seat in a contested election on August 18th.
“I am honored to be appointed by the Governor to fill the District 2 County Commission vacancy,” Mike Crabb said. “As a 30 year deputy sheriff, I took my job of protecting all residents and visitors in Orange County very seriously. As County Commissioner, I will do same and will represent the interests of District 2, all residents of Orange County and voters, regardless of political party or background.”
Michael Crabb is a Lieutenant for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the Owner of The Shirt Shop USA. The Governor said he is active in his community, he is the Vice President and a board member of the Florida Safety Council and is a member of the Florida Deputy Sheriff’s Association. Crabb attended Barry University.
Mike Crabb’s campaign says it is focused on what matters most to local families: safe neighborhoods, affordable living, responsible growth, better traffic, and protecting the parks and natural places that make our community special.
The Orange County Republicans celebrated the appointment. “Congratulations to Mike Crabb on his appointment by Governor Ron DeSantis to serve as Orange County Commissioner for District 2,” the Orange County GOP posted. “Vote to keep Mike serving District 2 on Tuesday, August 18. Early voting runs August 3 through August 16, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.”
Mike Crabb is currently running for District 2 Orange County Commissioner, and other candidates in the race include Kamia Brown, George Oliver III, Marsha Summersill, and former Orange County Democratic Party Chair Wes Hodge.
The Orange County Democrats also responded to Governor DeSantis’ local appointment.
