Polo G is the stage name of Taurus Tremani Bartlett (born January 6, 1999), an American rapper best known for his work as Polo G. His hits “Finer Things”[1] and “Pop Out”[2] propelled him to national popularity. His debut album Die a Legend (2019) garnered generally excellent reviews and debuted at number six on the US Billboard 200, earning him platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America.
The Goat (2020), Bartlett’s second studio album, debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 and produced eleven singles that reached the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 list.
Bartlett’s mainstream breakthrough continued with the release of his third studio album, Hall of Fame (2021), which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 list and featured his first number-one song, “Rapstar.”

Taurus Tremani Bartlett was born in the Old Town neighbourhood of Chicago, Illinois, to Taurus Bartlett and Stacia Mac. She is the youngest of three children. Mac, a former property manager, is now in charge of Bartlett’s affairs. He grew up in the Marshall Field Garden Apartments, which were just across the street from the Cabrini–Green Homes.
He is the second of four children, with an elder sister, Leilani, a younger brother, Taurean, who is also a rapper who goes by the stage name Trench Baby, and a younger sister, Leia. He has an older sister, Leilani, and a younger sister, Leia.
After graduating from high school, Bartlett was admitted to Lincoln University as a broadcasting major. However, he opted not to attend on his first day, preferring instead to devote his time to a full-time music career.
Following the death of his best buddy T-Gucci, Polo G turned to criminality, selling drugs and robbing automobiles to supplement his income and pay for studio time.
Beginnings, a record contract, and the opportunity to die a legend in 2018–2019
“ODA” was the title of Bartlett’s first ever recorded song, which he uploaded on YouTube in 2011. After establishing a SoundCloud account in 2018, he uploaded the single “Gang with Me,” which received millions of listens in a short period of time. With the songs “Welcome Back” and “Neva Cared,” he was able to continue to acquire popularity.
With “Finer Things,” a song he wrote while imprisoned, Bartlett went on to release it in the later part of 2018 and it soon earned millions of views. In January 2019, Bartlett released the single “Pop Out,” which featured Lil Tjay and reached at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. After the song’s music video received more than 200 million views on YouTube, he was signed to Columbia Records, where he continues to record.
On top of that, he has created music videos for his songs “Deep Wounds,” “Through da Storm,” “Effortless,” and “Dying Breed” off his first studio album Die a Legend, which was released on June 7, 2019, and reached at number 6 on the Billboard 200 chart.
It was produced by Mustard for the song “Heartless,” which was released later in 2019 and was subsequently included on his second studio album.
Records are broken by the Goat, the Hall of Fame, and Only Dreamers from 2020 to the present.
‘Go Stupid’ was released on February 14, 2020, by Bartlett in collaboration with rappers Stunna 4 Vegas and NLE Choppa, and it included production by Mike Will Made It as well as co-production from Tay Keith. “Go Stupid” became his second hit single on the Hot 100 (after “Pop Out”), reaching number 60 on the chart.
The Goat, Bartlett’s second studio album, was released on May 15, 2020, and is the follow-up to The Goat.
A total of eleven singles from the album reached the Hot 100 chart, with “Flex” featuring Juice Wrld reaching number 30 and “Be Something” featuring Lil Baby reaching number 57, respectively. This was followed by his collaboration with Lil Baby on Lil Durk’s “3 Headed Goat,” which reached at number 43 on the Billboard Hot 100 the following month.
This past summer, Bartlett was featured on the song “Hate the Other Side” from Juice Wrld’s posthumous album Legends Never Die, which came out in July. In addition to becoming his first top-ten single and highest-charting overall song, the song peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. On August 11, 2020, he was named to XXL’s 2020 Freshman Class, which was announced on August 12, 2020.
Later that month, he released the music video for “Martin & Gina,” which reached at number 61 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He released the single “Epidemic” in September, which reached at number 47 on the Billboard Hot 100. On October 30, 2020, he was featured on the song “The Code” by King Von, which was taken from the latter’s first album Welcome to O’Block. The song peaked at number 66 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached number one on the Canadian charts.
After announcing his own record company, Only Dreamers Achieve (ODA) in September, Bartlett signed his first artist, Syracuse-based singer-songwriter Scorey, to the label. Bartlett was included to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for the year 2021, where he was recognised in the music area.
His first song, titled “GNF (OKOKOK),” was released on February 5, 2021.
In the song “Last Man Standing,” which was released on February 12 as part of the soundtrack for the film Judas and the Black Messiah, he was featured.
After being cast in the film Boogie in 2021, Bartlett was also included on its soundtrack, which included the song “Fashion,” which was written and performed by the late rapper Pop Smoke. Bartlett worked with Lil Tjay and Fivio Foreign on the song “Headshot,” which was released on March 19 and features Lil Tjay. His song “Rapstar,” which was published on April 9, 2021, debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming the first rapper to do so.
In a statement released on May 17, he stated that he has completed recording his third studio album, Hall of Fame. On May 21, he and Lil Wayne collaborated on the album’s fourth single, “Gang Gang,” which peaked at number 33 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Hall of Fame, Bartlett’s first number-one album, was published on June 11 and debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, becoming the artist’s first number-one album. On December 3, 2021, he published Hall of Fame 2.0, a deluxe edition of the album that included more tracks. There were fourteen new tracks on the album, in addition to the previous twenty, and it featured guest performances from Lil Baby, Moneybagg Yo, YungLiV, NLE Choppa, and Lil Tjay.

He was first recognised for his Chicago drill sound, but over time he began to include more melodic elements into his music.
In addition to his “vivid and graphic narrative,” he has been praised for his songs, which frequently deal with difficult issues like as racism and mental health. The American rappers Lil Wayne and Tupac Shakur have been cited as some of his major influences in his career. On August 12, 2019, Bartlett was taken to the hospital after suffering a near-fatal drug overdose during a party. As a result of his previous hospitalisation and the death of fellow rapper and buddy Juice Wrld, he has since abstained from the use of ecstasy and Xanax.
