Roald Dahl was admitted to a hospital in Oxford, England, on November 12, 1990, with an unexplained infection. He died peacefully in his sleep on November 23, 1990.
He was buried in the grounds of St Peter and St Paul’s Church in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, England. His family provided him with a “sort of Viking funeral,” according to his granddaughter.

Roald Dahl’s Personal Life
In 1953, Dahl married actress Patricia Neal. During their 30 years of marriage, they had five children: Olivia, Chantal, Theo, Ophelia, and Lucy. When Theo was only a few months old, he was hit by a cab while riding in his baby carriage, and he briefly suffered from hydrocephalus.
