Erik ten Hag said that Jadon Sancho was not included in the team for the loss to Arsenal on Sunday because of his play in practice. When Manchester United’s lineup was announced at the Emirates, the winger’s absence stood out. The ex-Borussia Dortmund player was likely left off the roster owing to injury.
After the game, when asked why Sancho wasn’t playing, Ten Hag replied, “Jadon, on his performance in training, we didn’t select him.
“You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United and you have to make choices in the frontline. For this game, he wasn’t selected.”
Ten Hag stated that Scott McTominay was not included in the matchday squad because he was sick. At the same time, United lost 3-1 to Arsenal despite making two center-back substitutions (Harry Maguire for Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez for Jonny Evans).
Ten Hag said, “Victor was sick, and he had to come off.” “Licha said he has a problem on his foot, but I’m not sure if it’s an injury and we have to see, have to make the diagnosis.”
Despite the Red Devils’ best efforts, they were unable to salvage anything from their North London match after conceding late goals to Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus in stoppage time. Marcus Rashford scored United’s lone goal at the 27:09 mark, but their lead lasted only 109 seconds before Martin Odegaard canceled it out.
Ten Hag, despite this, claimed to be satisfied with the show.
He stated, “I’m here with a good feeling because our performance was very good, not perfect and there is definitely room for improvement, but if we see the pressing, movement with the ball, counters on the ball, in possession was very calm.” We didn’t give Arsenal any chances to put pressure on us. We gave in to their demands and played.
“But there was room for improvement in the next stage; we could have done that better to get the next pass. That had to do with the movement and the right pass. There were a lot of positives, but as is logical in this stage of the season, there was room for improvement.”

Jadon Sancho Injury
In his return from an ankle ligament injury, Jadon Sancho scored in Borussia Dortmund’s 3-2 win over Cologne at the beginning of February. While playing for Borussia’s U19s in a junior Revierderby against Schalke, the England U17 international began and scored the game-winning goal in Borussia’s 4-2 loss.
United manager Erik ten Hag said in December that Sancho wasn’t ‘physically or emotionally’ ready to play after missing action from October through December. This week, however, the winger returned to action in a 2-0 Carabao Cup victory over Nottingham Forest.
After an emotional return to action, Sancho has taken to Instagram to express his gratitude to his fans.

He said: “Wow! Just want to say a massive thank you to everyone for the support I’ve received over the past few weeks, especially to the fans.”
“My focus is to give my all to my team and the club, I’m so happy to be back out on the pitch, see you soon.”
United won the semi-final match against Forest 5-0 on aggregate after Sancho entered the game in the 63rd minute as a substitute.
