The fourth instalment of Illumination’s supervillain franchise, Despicable Me 4, is set to hit theaters in 2024 and may feature Gru’s most outrageous exploits to date. The $3.7 billion franchise has grown into one of the highest-grossing of all time since its debut with Despicable Me (2010).
There is a steady stream of sequels and even spin-off prequels released every two to three years, guaranteeing that the series will continue to be successful. The Despicable Me film series has spawned a slew of related media, including novels, games, and even short films.
Despite Illumination’s continued secrecy about the film’s plot and characters, fans have been treated to lots of teasers leading up to its 2024 release, making Despicable Me 4 one of Universal’s most anticipated forthcoming films.
The new villain, Balthazar Bratt, played by Trey Parker, was a huge sensation with audiences, and Despicable Me 3 had a tremendous run at the theaters. The fourth Despicable Me film has an official release date, and Steve Carell, who voices Gru, has hinted at some plot points.

July 3, 2024, is the date that Universal Pictures and Illumination have set for the release of Despicable Me 4. At this time, we don’t know when the movie will be streamable, but we do know that it will be available for home viewing in October or November. Despicable Me 4 is likely to air on Peacock.
Despicable Me 4 Story
After keeping the plot of Despicable Me 4 a secret for a while, the official trailer dropped recently, revealing the whole scenario. With the advent of Gru Jr., the whole house is thrown into chaos, but Gru and Lucy adjust to being parents again. Worst case scenario: criminal Maxime Le Mal gets away with it, so Gru and his clan go into hiding.
Meanwhile, he tries to carry out the same heists that made him famous as a supervillain. Despite the thrilling action sequences, Gru’s bond with his little son will serve as the story’s beating heart in Despicable Me 4.
Decadent 4 Cast
Even though we don’t know much about Despicable Me 4, we do know that film will include a large cast of both new and returning voices.
Steve Carell, as always, returns as Felonious Gru, the converted supervillain; Margo, Gru’s eldest daughter, played by Miranda Cosgrove; and Edith, Gru’s middle child, played by Dana Gaier. Madison Polan takes over for Nev Scharrel as Agnes, the youngest daughter.
