There have been a lot of updates on Eli Roth’s next project, Borderlands, and the most recent news about it is quite encouraging. Following Lionsgate’s 2015 announcement of the post-apocalyptic sci-fi action-adventure, Craig Mazin of Chornobyl was cast to pen the initial screenplay.
One of the most lucrative gaming franchises of the modern era, the first-person shooter combines science fiction and Western elements. Borderlands must maintain the same level of fidelity to the source material as HBO’s faithful adaptation of The Last of Us, which Mazin helped develop.
The unique world of Borderlands, which is loaded with open-ended history, makes it a natural fit for Roth’s inventive cinematography, and the game adapts to filmmaking far more easily than many first-person shooters. Borderlands has the potential to follow in the footsteps of numerous other video game adaptations that have found success at the box office.
When Will The Borderlands Movie Come Out?
The video game adaption is still expected to arrive on its previously scheduled release date, even with the delays were caused by the 2023 Hollywood strikes. On August 9, 2024, the film Borderlands will make its theatrical debut.
Production on the film commenced in 2021 and ended in June of the same year. However development on the project began in 2015, and with a release date of 2024, fans will have to wait nearly a decade for the film adaptation of the video game.
The Borderlands Movie Cast
Casting announcements were a major source of excitement for the Borderlands film. Cate Blanchett stars as the beloved Vault Hunter Lilith in the Borderlands film, which has an A-list ensemble.
The Aviator and Blue Jasmine, both of which Blanchett won Oscars for, are her most famous works. Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween’s Laurie Strode) portrays Dr. Patricia Tannis, a scientist, while the legendary American comedian Kevin Hart (Jumanji) stars as mercenary Roland.
All of Borderlands’ cast members, from main characters to minor characters, have been announced, and they all feature famous actors. Ariana Greenblatt will portray the adored demolitions specialist Tiny Tina, and Jack Black will provide the voice for the witty robot Claptrap.
The Borderlands Movie Story
Good news: a rudimentary narrative for the upcoming Borderlands film adaptation has been leaked. The plot of the Borderlands film takes place on Pandora, the home planet of Lilith, played by Blanchett.
While searching for an alien vault with horrible riches, she tries to locate Atlas’s (Ramírez) daughter, who is said to possess enigmatic abilities and is the daughter of a strong, rich, and wicked character.
The following characters Lilith befriends on her journey: Roland (Hart), Tiny Tina (Greenblatt), Krieg (Munteanu), Tannis (Curtis), and Claptrap (Black), a robot. As they strive to accomplish their objective, the main crew of Borderlands faces combat against extraterrestrial creatures, bandits, and the Atlas Corporation.
