In addition to acting, Brendan Fraser is a director and producer. He starred as Rick O’Connell in the 1999–2008 Mummy trilogy as well as Encino Man (1992), Airheads (1994), George of the Jungle (1997), Dudley Do-Right (1999), Monkeybone (2001), Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008), Inkheart (2008), and Furry Vengeance (2009).

Films such as School Ties (1992), With Honors (1994), The Passion of Darkly Noon (1995), Mrs. Winterbourne (1996), and Gods and Monsters (1998) helped Fraser move out into dramatic parts (2013). On television, Fraser has been in the History miniseries Texas Rising (2015), The Affair (2016–2017), Trust (2018), Condor (2018), and Doom Patrol (DC Universe / HBO Max) as well as in a number of feature films (2019–present).

Brendan Fraser is making a big comeback on stage with a major production. The first look of Darren Aronofsky’s “The Whale,” which depicts the actor in the role of a 600-pound man, was unveiled on Tuesday. Charlie (Fraser) is a solitary English teacher who is trying to reconnect with his 17-year-old daughter. The film is based on a play written by Samuel D.

Hunter in 2012. ‘It’s going to be like something you haven’t seen before,” Fraser said to Unilad last year while promoting his role in the movie. In the words of the “Mummy” star, “the outfit and costume were enormous, seamless, heavy.” Not to be coy, but this is a departure from anything I’ve ever done… “I’m confident that it will leave a lasting impression on them.”

“The Whale” star Brendan Fraser has undergone a complete metamorphosis for the film’s release. The 53-year-old actor, who plays a 600-pound guy struggling with obesity in the film, got his first glimpse at the role on Tuesday when A24 released a photo on Twitter. “The Whale,” starring “Stranger Things” actor Sadie Sink, will have its world premiere at the 79th Venice Film Festival, according to a tweet from A24.

When Charlie (Fraser) and his estranged daughter (Sink) meet for the first time since she was a teenager, he seeks to rekindle their relationship “for one last chance at atonement,” according to A24’s website. Darren Aronofsky is helming the psychological thriller, which is his first feature picture since Jennifer Lawrence starrer “mother!” in 2017.

An announcement about the film’s production was made by Variety in 2021. Samuel D. Hunter’s Off-Broadway production, “The Whale,” is inspired by “The Whale,” which deals with excessive obesity and solitude. Fraser described the picture as “something you haven’t seen before” in an interview with Unilad last year. According to Variety, his starring role in “The Whale” will be his first since the 2013 action film “Breakout.”

With shows like “Doom Patrol” and “Professionals” to his name, Fraser has been busy for the past decade. Film fans are eager to see Fraser, who is best known for starring in “The Mummy” and “Crash” as well as “George of the Jungle,” back in action. One Twitter user said, “Brendan Fraser’s oscar campaign begins today” after seeing an image from “The Whale.” Yet another person predicted that if Brendan Fraser’s speech is any good, “he will sweep all the way to the Academy Awards.”

‘The Whale’ First Look: Brendan Fraser

The Brendan Fraser comeback has begun. In Darren Aronofsky’s new Darren Aronofsky film, “The Whale,” Fraser plays a guy with obesity who fights to reconnect with his 17-year-old daughter. A24 has published the first look at the film. His directorial debut since “mother!” divided critics and audiences. First images of “The Whale” were released following confirmation that it would premiere at the Venice Film Festival in 2022.

The cast of “Stranger Things” favorites Sadie Sink, Hong Chau, Samantha Morton, and Ty Simpkins join Fraser in “The Whale.” Matthew Libatique, the cinematographer who filmed Olivia Wilde’s Venice premiere “Don’t Worry Darling,” is once again working with director Darren Aronofsky. Libatique has filmed all of Aronofsky’s films to date, except for “The Wrestler,” in which Maryse Alberti served as cinematographer.

Last year, Fraser told Unilad that his performance in “The Whale” would be “something anything you’ve never seen before.” The only thing I can tell you is this: Costume and clothes were voluminous, well-made but inconvenient. To be honest, this is a vast cry from anything I’ve ever done before, but I won’t pretend otherwise… “I’m confident that it will leave a lasting impression on them.”

Since “Breakout,” Fraser has been in supporting roles in Steven Soderbergh’s “No Sudden Movie” and in “The Whale.” This is his first starring role since 2013. “Killers of the Flower Moon” and “Batgirl,” a DC Comics blockbuster that will premiere on HBO Max later this year, are both on Fraser’s upcoming schedule.

At first glance “The Whale” may be seen in the video below. The drama’s premiere date has yet to be announced by A24. There will also be “Pearl” and “The Eternal Daughter” premiere at the Venice Film Festival under the banner of the A24 label.
