An whole new Power spin-off series called Raising Kanan has just debuted, and it’s all about Kanan’s early years. Season two of Starz’s “Kanan” has already begun, according to the showrunner, following the finale’s shocking reveal of the character’s destiny (played by Mekai Curtis).
When Kanan Stark (50 Cent) was brutally killed off in season five of the original series of Power, spectators gasped in horror.
However, even though Raising Kanan was released in 2012, viewers were brought back in time to 1991 to learn more about how Kanan became the evil he ultimately died as.
During the first season, we learned about Raquel Thomas, a 15-year-old boy with a troubled connection with his queen pin mother (Patina Miller). A life of crime also tempted Kanan to divert from his academic pursuits and become an aspirational mobster. Kanan had committed his first murder by the season finale, dubbed ‘Paid in Full,’ and had learned the hard way to trust no one.
He was raised by a drug lord mother who tried to keep him away from a life of crime by encouraging him to attend college. However, he deliberately failed his admission examinations in order to be Raquel’s guardian in the event of a mishap or mishaps. Her aspirations of extending her network of dealers were dashed, while his family was placed in jeopardy by him.

Raquel’s decision to place her kid in protective custody has sparked controversy, and it appears that the public will soon learn why she made that decision.
On Deadline, creator Sascha Penn revealed some crucial information regarding the characters’ futures and gave an update on season two of the show.
He disclosed: “We are about two-thirds of the way through shooting season two
“What fans can expect is that the relationship between Raq and Kanan becomes increasingly complicated, as you can imagine.
“In season two, the stakes just get ratcheted up in every possible way, Kanan starts to realise stuff about his mum and himself, Detective Howard increasingly becomes a player in the family drama.
Sascha revealed: “Jukebox is still sort of reckoning with how the season ended for her and her relationship with Marvin, which is troubled and Marvin is trying to sort of redeem himself on a certain level.”
Sascha continued: “Lou, played by Malcolm Mays, starts to become more deeply involved in the music business, but of course, that also bumps up against the family business.
“Same time we have Unique was played by Joey Badass, who is trying to figure out how he can rebuild his business and his life after what happens at the end of the first season.”
When questioned about a potential time jump in season two, the showrunner added: “The plan is to stay within the timeline, we’re not going to make any giant leaps to 2000 or whatever.”
