A 23-year-old man is said to have passed away on Saturday morning in Grayslake, close to the College of Lake County, after being shot while inside a moving vehicle. Around 10:45 on Saturday morning, the Grayslake Police Department responded to a complaint about a shooting victim at Northwestern Medicine Center Grayslake, 1475 East Belvidere Road.
According to Christopher Covelli, spokesman for the Lake County Major Crime Task Force, officers were informed that a 23-year-old man had been declared deceased shortly after arriving at the hospital. According to an initial inquiry, the victim was a passenger in a car that was driving down Washington Street in Grayslake, close to Lancer Lane.
According to Covelli, a person in another car moving to the location started shooting at the victim’s car. After the victim was shot, the driver hurried him to the hospital, where he later passed away. According to a Lake and McHenry County Scanner photojournalist, multiple shot shells were reportedly seen on the south side of Washington Street, just east of Lancer Lane, close to the College of Lake County entrance.

While conducting their investigation on Saturday morning and afternoon, police had crime scene tape around a portion of the location. The Grayslake Police Department contacted the Lake County Major Crime Task Force for assistance with the investigation.
Sent The Grayslake-Hainesville Police Department, Lake County Sheriff’s Office, College of Lake County Police, and other law enforcement agencies to the scene. For several hours, police blocked Washington Street between Atkinson Road and Route 45. The route was reopened Saturday afternoon. The Lake County Coroner’s Office is planning the man’s autopsy.
