Former Nets Guard Darius Morris Cause Of Death Revealed

The cause of death for Darius Morris, the former NBA player known for his time with the Los Angeles Lakers and other teams, has been revealed. Morris, who had a promising career in professional basketball, passed away unexpectedly, leaving fans and the sports community in mourning. The details surrounding his untimely death have now come to light, providing some closure to those who admired his talent and contributions to the game.

Darius Morris’s Cause Of Death Revealed

Darius Morris’ cause of death has been determined one month after his passing. The former NBA point guard died of coronary artery atherosclerosis, also known as coronary heart disease, on May 2 at the age of 33, according to Los Angeles Medical Examiner records reviewed by E! News. Contributing factors included the effects of cocaine, alcohol, and hydrocodone, an opioid used to treat severe pain. His death was ruled an accident.

Morris began his basketball career with the University of Michigan’s Wolverines before being drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2011. He played alongside Kobe Bryant for two seasons before moving to the L.A. D-Fenders, an NBA G League team.

In 2013, he signed with the Philadelphia 76ers but was waived the following month. He then had short stints with the Los Angeles Clippers and the Memphis Grizzlies in early 2014 and played in the NBA Summer League with the San Antonio Spurs.

Morris also spent time with the Brooklyn Nets, the New Orleans Pelicans, the Santa Cruz Warriors in the NBA G League, and the Guangdong Southern Tigers in China. Later, he played for BC Enisey in Russia’s VTB United League and BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque in France before the 2020 season was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the wake of his passing, Morris’ former college basketball coach, John Beilein, remembered him as a “leader” who “laid the foundation for Michigan’s next decade of success.” “RIP DMo,” Beilein wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, extending his condolences to the Morris family.
