According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a woman from Port Orange passed away early Wednesday morning due to injuries sustained in a collision that caused the closure of a portion of Interstate 95 in the Palm Coast region for approximately five hours.
According to the state troopers, the accident occurred at approximately 8:30 in the morning in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95, just north of the Old Kings Road North overpass.
An FHP report states that a woman in her 53rd year was driving a sedan behind a semi pulling a trailer in the center lane when the semi began to slow down as it approached traffic. The woman was traveling in the center lane. The automobile could not come to a complete stop before colliding with the trailer.
