Australian Surfer Chris Davidson Dies After Punch Outside The Pub

A former surfing champion, Chris Davidson passed away after being assaulted outside a New South Wales mid-north coast pub. A man has been brought before the court regarding Davidson’s death. After 11 p.m. on Saturday, police were summoned to Sportsmans Way in South West Rocks after receiving reports that a man had been punched in the face, fallen, and banged his head on the pavement.

According to the police, the incident occurred just before they arrived. A month ago, Ethan Ewing competed in the Corona Open at J-Bay. Ewing is one of a handful of talented surfers from Australia who has his sights set on becoming the country’s next male world champion.

On the ground, officers discovered Davidson, 45 years old and unconscious. After receiving medical attention on the spot from the ambulance paramedics, he was transported to the hospital in Kempsey, where he passed away a short while later. Early on Sunday morning, South West Rocks police officers went to the residence of a 42-year-old man and arrested him on suspicion of murder by assault.

He could not post bail and was required to appear in court on Sunday in Port Macquarie. As a child, Davidson, who learned to surf at North Narrabeen, located on Sydney’s northern beaches, was a competitor on the world professional surfing tour in 2010 and 2011. According to Surfing Australia, the community of surfers is in mourning following the passing of the man who was lovingly known as “Davo.”

On Facebook, the organization added, “Davo was a true individual in our sport and community. He had incredible potential as a surfer and will be much missed.” During this difficult moment, our thoughts are with his two children and his friends and family. Kelly Slater, the winner of eleven World Surf League titles, referred to Davidson as “one of the most naturally talented surfers he knew.”

In 1996, when Davidson was 19 years old and competing as a wildcard entry at Bells Beach, Davidson defeated Slater in two consecutive heats. Another soldier was killed in action yesterday. #RipChrisDavo. I had a lot of fun duking it out with this dude,” Slater wrote on his Instagram account.

As a child, Davidson, who learned to surf at North Narrabeen, located on Sydney’s northern beaches, competed in the World Surf League championship series in 2010 and 2011. His most outstanding performance was a tie for third place at the tournament in Portugal in 2010, where he was narrowly beaten by Slater, who went on to win the competition.

Davidson was interviewed by the surfing magazine Tracks at the time and said, “I felt like I surfed well versus Kelly, but when he goes and pulls a 360 Alley-Oop on a nothing wave, it’s hard to fight back.”

Nathan Hedge, Davidson’s friend, mentioned on the Today show on Nine that Davidson’s passing was a tragedy and that Davidson was a one-of-a-kind personality who was also charismatic and the life of the party.
