On Wednesday, donations and support for the city of Clearlake’s new leisure center complex were significant. On Wednesday, Clearlake received a $2 million cheque from Congressman Mike Thompson (CA-04) to construct the Clearlake Burns Valley Sports Complex and Recreation Center. The government spending bill for Fiscal Year 2023 included this funding as a guarantee.
According to Thompson, developing the Burns Valley Sports Complex and Recreation Center will promote healthier lifestyles, boost local employment opportunities, attract more tourists, and improve hotel room bookings. “It gave me great pride to collaborate with Lake County officials to determine the demand for this financing. This initiative will modernize our neighborhood, promote a healthy way of life, and accelerate regional economic growth.

“This project will significantly and permanently impact our neighborhood. A few advantages of this impact initiative include promoting a healthy lifestyle, offering safe youth activities, and drawing tourists from outside our area. Mayor Russ Perdock said, “We are incredibly appreciative of Congressman Thompson‘s assistance and that of the different organizations that will make this project a reality.
The entire land will consist of a modest retail space, a new public works corporation yard, an 80-unit affordable housing project, a sports facility, and a recreation center. This yard will act as the city’s recent disaster and emergency response hub.
The sports complex includes a brand-new Little League/softball/baseball complex, soccer grounds, and a recreation center measuring about 20,000 square feet. Thompson represents the Fourth Congressional District of California, which may encompass all or a portion of Yolo, Lake, Napa, Solano, and Sonoma counties.
