Matarazzo made the announcement that his surgery had been a success on February 1st, 2020. The actor posted a photo of himself lying in a hospital bed on his official Instagram page. To accompany his photo, he added a lengthy caption in which he explained the specifics of his surgery.

In his writing, Matarazzo referred to his surgery as “a big one” and hoped it would be his final major procedure.

Several extraction procedures were used in the palace by the television actor when he was removing an extra denture.
He reported that the team of “wonderful” medical specialists removed fourteen teeth in less than four hours and that he was recovering well in the days after the procedure.

His gums had already been surgically removed. The actor posted a picture on his social media accounts a few days before his procedure, announcing that it would be his fourth dental surgery.
In order to find a long-term medical solution for CCD, patients must pay for the actor’s $40,000 surgery out of their own pocket.

“There’s a one in a million chance of getting it. It is most likely that you get it from a parent, but it just happened to me,” Matarazzo told People in 2016.

Actor Matarazzo revealed in 2018 that he was frequently turned down for assignments due to his medical concerns.
His plan was to go for auditions three times a week and return with a “no” every time.

Gaten Matarazzo is an Inspiration For others

The Stranger Things actor has a lot in common with Dustin Henderson, the show’s protagonist. Due to the fact that Matarazzo’s real-life condition was incorporated into the show, Henderson now has CCD as well.

Because of the actor’s candor regarding his illness, a large number of people with the same disease have come out to share their stories. As a nurse in Utah who co-founded CCD Smiles with Matarazzo in 2017, Kelly Wosnik maintains that the actor’s influence has made it “cool to have CCD.”

According to the nurse, “Stranger Things provided him a great platform that has helped so much with awareness.”
She went on to say that because of Matarazzo’s fame in Hollywood, more people have come out to say they’ve had CCD become a part of their family.
At the age of thirty-three, Wosnik, who was born with CCD, created a foundation to house other persons with the same illness.
For the same reason, Erica Mossholder, executive director of the Children’s Craniofacial Association, remarked that Matarazzo’s show has done a lot for raising awareness about this issue among children.
