According to Variety, Hulu has renewed “Hit-Monkey,” an animated series for adults, for a second season. The show was renewed more than a year after its debut in November 2021. Based on the same-named title character from Marvel Comics, the series centers on a Japanese snow monkey whose entire tribe is massacred. When the Yakuza mistreated them, he partnered with the spirit of American assassin Bryce to exact retribution.

In the upcoming season, Hit-Monkey and Bryce’s journey from Japan to New York City will be followed. Fred Tatasciore voices Hit-Monkey. Jason Sudeikis as Bryce, Ally Maki as Haruka, and Olivia Munn as Akiko Yokohama round up the remaining voice cast. Leslie Jones will also appear on the program during Season 2 in an unspecified capacity.

The show’s executive producers, Josh Gordon and Will Speck, co-created it. The production company for the series is 20th Television Animation. “Hit-Monkey” was initially one of four adults animated Marvel series that Jeph Loeb’s now-defunct Marvel Television division set up on Hulu. The other three were “Howard the Duck,” “Tigra & Dazzler,” and “MODOK.”
As with Marvel TV’s Netflix live-action episodes and Marvel Studios’ “Avengers” blockbusters, the idea was to launch all four miniseries before merging them into an event series called “The Offenders.” However, only “Hit-Monkey” and “MODOK” made it to air out of the four animated series; “MODOK” was canceled after one season last year.
