I-96 Accident Today: On the afternoon of Sunday, November 13, 2022, at approximately 2:29 p.m., deputies from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office were summoned to EB I-96 east of Highland Road in Howell Township for a fatal motor vehicle crash.
According to a press releI-96 Accident Todayase issued by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, the preliminary investigation indicates that a 2005 Honda Civic driven by a 22-year-old man from Fowlerville was traveling westbound on I-96 when the driver lost control of the vehicle, traveled through the median, and collided head-on with a 2013 Ford Escape driven by a 71-year-old man from Roscommon.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. It was stated that the driver of the Honda Civic had passed away at the scene of the accident. The driver of the Ford Escape had to be cut free from the wreckage of his vehicle and sent to the hospital by the Livingston County Ambulance Service, but he passed away on the way there.
It does not appear that speed had a role in the accident because both drivers were wearing their seat belts. During the almost four-hour-long investigation, the street was blocked off completely.
The effects of substance abuse and alcohol are currently being looked into. On the scene, deputies were assisted by members of the Michigan State Police, the Howell Area Fire Department, and the Livingston County Emergency Medical Services. The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Bureau is continuing its investigation into this collision at this time.
