Salt Lake County- On Saturday morning, a suspect was apprehended after fleeing from troopers on Interstate 80 at the 5600 West exit. Sergeant Chris Bishop of the Utah Highway Patrol informed Gephardt Daily that they received complaints of a wrong-way driver at around 8:10 this morning. So the trooper drove out there and located the car pointing in the right direction, but as soon as he got close to it the driver took off and was driving erratically.
Due to the vehicle’s reckless driving, the trooper opted not to pursue it. Bishop added that troopers had seen the man in several different places until they finally found him “after he crashed at the last location, at about 1100 South.” He reported that medical personnel had examined the driver after he was taken into custody. Bishop reported that there were no reported injuries, but that authorities believed the driver may have been under the influence.

When Bishop was asked where exactly the driver took them, he responded, “he was kind of all over the place.” He was quite fortunate, as there were two additional high-speed collisions that night, one of which was fatal in Grand County. If there is any new information, Gephardt Daily will have it.
