LEESBURG – Visiting Inverness Citrus overcame a 14-7 deficit with a 1-yard touchdown run with 43 seconds left in the 4th quarter to defeat Leesburg 15-14 in the 2018 Kickoff Classic. “We just didn’t finish the game.

A. J. played decently but his receiver had too many drops,” Oates said in his post game press conference. “We just have to keep working and getting better.”

Leesburg’s offense controlled the ball for most of the 1st quarter and scored first with All-State candidates quarterback A. J. Graham and WR David Robinson on a long touchdown pass to jump out to a 6-0 lead. The Jackets got a 94 yard score by All-State candidate Jatavian Solomon just before halftime to put the Jackets up 12-6. Leesburg converted on the two point conversion attempt to take 14-7 lead into halftime. The score would stay that way until Citrus went on a long scoring drive with under six
minutes left in the game.

The Jackets will host Bushnell South Sumter next Friday in their season
opener.
