With the building of a third estate on the upscale island of Indian Creek, South Florida, Jeff Bezos is growing his real estate empire.
According to persons with knowledge of the situation, the founder of Amazon.com Inc. consented to pay roughly US$90 million in an off-market deal for a six-bedroom house in the Miami area community.
According to one of the people, Bezos intends to live there while demolishing the other homes he purchased on the island.
Bezos’s spokesman declined to comment. According to property records, the mansion last sold for $2.5 million in 1998.
Bezos, who is valued at $203.7 billion and is the second richest person in the world based on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, declared in November that he was relocating from the Seattle area to Miami.
He paid $147 million for two residences in Indian Creek, an artificial barrier island known for its affluence and named “Billionaire Bunker.” Tom Brady, Carl Icahn, Ivanka Trump, and Jared Kushner are among the other residents.
Bezos hasn’t sold any Amazon stock since 2021, although he has subsequently sold shares worth roughly $8.5 billion. Bezos, 60, has not revealed his plans with the money.
In addition, Bezos has properties in Washington, an estate in Maui, and a mansion in Beverly Hills that he paid $165 million for in 2020.
Former banker Javier Holtz is listed as the owner of the mansion at 28 Indian Creek Island Road, which is the location of his most recent Florida purchase.
