The Mayor of Kingstown is coming back for a second season, and from the looks of things, Jeremy Renner’s character, Mike McLusky, is before trying to keep things from going crazy. He will face many challenges in the future, and keeping his balance will be even more challenging than before.
Taylor Sheridan, who made Yellowstone, is behind this series, which takes a hard look at the prison system. The story takes place in the made-up town of Kingstown, Michigan, but it seems more real than your average case-of-the-week network procedural. McLusky is the unofficial mayor and acts as a link between the police, the prisons, and the streets. He tries to get along with everyone and not let his emotions get in the way so he can do what’s best for everyone. But because everyone has different goals, things explode in a big way.
What is the Show About?
As was the case with the previous season, the second installment will center on the McLusky family, led by Renner’s portrayal of Mike, as they navigate the intricacies of the legal system and frequently take matters into their own hands.
According to the official summary, “In Kingstown, Michigan, where the sole thriving industry is the business of jail, the mayor of Kingstown is following the McLusky family, who are power brokers in the community. The series takes on topics like institutional racism, corruption, and injustice, and it offers an unflinching look at the characters’ attempts to bring order and justice to a community that lacks both of those things.”

Mayor of Kingstown Season 2 Cast
Renner will return to this crime drama, as well Wiest as his worried mother Miriam, and Tyler Handey as his career-minded brother Kyle. Wiest told FilmSpeak in an interview that she loves playing a character who doesn’t care what other people think. “In many ways, it feels good to play such an angry woman. You don’t care what other people think. It’s also a lot of work because she’s hiding behind it. It’s how she deals with the loss of her husband.” In season two, you can still count on Miriam to say what she thinks.
Laird is back as Iris, and Hugh Dillon, who used to be on Yellowstone, is back as Ian Fergus, the senior drug, theft, and murder detective for the Kingstown Police Department.
In season two, Aidan Gillen, who plays Milo Sunter on Game of Thrones, will make more trouble for Mike and the city. Mike put him in jail for stealing from an armored car, but even though he’s been locked up, he’s still been able to influence things outside of his cell. Bunny, who works with Mike and is his friend, and Stevie, a police officer played by Derek Webster, both come back.
