A Round Lake Heights man was found guilty of supplying and having less than 15 grams of cocaine by a McHenry County judge on Friday.
Following a bench trial last month, McHenry County Judge Michael Coppedge found Martell L. Baker, 38, not guilty of three additional charges, including extra counts of delivering 1 to 15 grams of cocaine and possession of fewer than 15 grams of cocaine, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia, according to court documents.
On January 6, a sentencing hearing was scheduled. Cocaine delivery is a Class 1 felony that carries a four- to 15-year jail sentence. Possession is a Class 4 felony, punishable by a one- to a three-year prison term. They are both also on probation.
According to the indictment, Baker was found guilty in 2006 in Lake County of manufacturing or delivering a controlled substance, making him eligible for an extended sentence on both counts.
According to motions submitted by prosecutors in July 2020, Baker and Symayah A. Cedzidlo, a resident of Spring Grove, were stopped by police after they reportedly carried out a cocaine deal. According to the motions, they were carrying more than $700 in cash, cocaine, a scale, and packaging supplies at the time.

According to court documents, Cedzidlo, 22, was indicted on the same allegations as Baker.
She entered a blind plea to one count of delivering 1 to 15 grams of cocaine in February, which means the punishment was not predetermined.
According to the court order, Coppedge sentenced Cedzidlo to three years of felony probation in March, noting Cedzidlo’s lack of criminal history.
She was ordered to serve 250 hours of community service as part of her probation, have a substance abuse diagnosis and follow all of its recommendations, sign up for and pass the GED exam, go through six months of home confinement, and submit to drug testing.
Additionally, she was given a 180-day prison term, of which 150 will be suspended if the remaining conditions of her probation are met. For the 15 days that she has already been imprisoned, she was awarded credit.
