Florida’s ORANGE COUNTY – Mayor Jerry Demings predicts that Orange County may experience additional flooding as water levels rise in the coming days as a result of Ian’s widespread downpour. The mayor stated that the county is still experiencing considerable levels of standing water as a result of the recent storm.
Demings stated at a news conference on Monday that “we will still have streets and intersections closed due to the heavy standing water across our community.” More evacuations could occur as a result of the increasing floods. In the county, the South Econ Recreation Center serves as the sole operating shelter at the moment. Less than 100 individuals are now staying at the shelter, according to the mayor.

Up to 16 inches of rain fell in Orange County, flooding several neighbourhoods’ streets, apartments, and homes. According to county officials, Orange County Fire Rescue carried out more than 1,700 rescues throughout the region as a result. There haven’t been any more water rescues, according to the mayor.
The county’s public works department is coordinating debris collection with outside contractors as part of its storm recovery activities.
