Virginia State Police say a crash on Interstate 64 between a party bus and a tractor-trailer left three people dead and more than 20 people hurt.
The accident happened around 1:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of mile marker 241 in York County, right before the exit to Jamestown.
“At this point in the investigation, state police know that both a tractor-trailer and a passenger bus were traveling east on I-64. When the passenger bus drove into the path of the tractor-trailer, the two cars crashed. “Virginia State Police made a new statement, which was read. “The crash’s impact sent the tractor-trailer off the left side of the highway and into the median, where it hit a hill.”
State Police said more than 20 people were on the bus, and none were wearing a seat belt.

“Twenty people on the bus, including the driver, were taken to nearby hospitals to get care for injuries that were not life-threatening. Three more people on the bus died at the scene, “the speaker kept talking. “The adult male tractor-trailer driver was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening.”
Police said that the bodies of two men and a woman who had died were taken to the Office of the Medical Examiner for an autopsy, an examination, and a positive ID.
“State police are still working with the ME to make sure that the victims have been identified and that they’re next of kin have been told,” the statement said. “Once all next-of-kin have been notified, all names will be made public.”
The crash, the investigation, and the cleanup kept the eastbound side of I-64 from moving until about 11:30 a.m. One of the lanes going west is still closed.
