Portsmouth Car Accident: According to police, a 2018 Porsche Macan rolled over early on Thursday morning at the intersection of the Route 1 Bypass South and the city traffic circle, killing one person and injuring five others.
According to the New Hampshire State Police, a 22-year-old Northwood male was driving the Porsche at the time of the collision, which happened around 1:17 a.m. According to the police, the Porsche overturned numerous times after leaving “the left side of the roadway onto a curbed divider, entering the travel area of the traffic circle, and traveling onto the grass median in the center of the traffic circle.”

Police reported that there were six people in the Porsche, including the driver and other people who were ejected from the vehicle. Several passing motorists and nearby Portsmouth police officers who were there at the time of the collision stopped to help until emergency medical services could arrive, according to the police.
The driver and one other passenger were taken to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries while the remaining four passengers were sent to Portsmouth Regional Hospital. According to authorities, one of Porsche’s passengers passed away at Portsmouth Regional Hospital around five hours after the collision. None of the car’s occupants’ identities were immediately disclosed by police.
Excessive speed and intoxication were cited by police as potential contributing factors in the collision, which is still under investigation. According to authorities, the traffic roundabout was off-limits to vehicles for about five hours before it reopened at around 6:30 in the morning. The Rockingham County attorney’s office was one of many regional and state authorities that responded, according to police.
