Police in Salt Lake City has detained a second suspect in connection with the midnight murder of Charles Alires, 34. After officers conducted a follow-up on the case near Fayette Ave. and 200 West, Taddy Avalon Jackman, 43, was taken into custody. Based on one murder charge, he is being detained in the Salt Lake County Jail.
After a dispute about house cleaning, an American Fork man allegedly runs over his wife. Officers reportedly searched the area while working with locals to find Jackman and promptly and securely take him into custody.
Just after 3:40 p.m., the investigation got underway. Police learned of a stabbing at the Palmer Court apartments, which are situated in the 900 block of South Main St., on Thursday, Feb. 2. When the police came, they discovered Alires in a serious state.
They provided medical care and asked the Salt Lake City Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance for more help, but Alires passed away there and then. Detectives think Jackman drew a knife as Ivy Chase Grant and another suspect fought Alires.

Jackman is charged with using a knife to stab Alires. Grant was discovered at a home close to 300 East Kensington Ave. on Friday, February 4, by members of the SLCPD’s homicide squad, SWAT Team, and violent criminal apprehension team (VCAT). Grant is accused of obstructing justice on one count.
Detectives think Grant provoked the altercation with Alires and lied about it the entire time. Updated booking images are not being made public because both suspects are in custody.
