A teenage boy, age 15, was taken into custody after reportedly robbing a man at gunpoint during a meetup for the sale of shoes near Lake Villa. According to the police, the incident occurred during the meetup.
According to Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, an 18-year-old guy from Round Lake Beach was trying to sell a brand-new pair of sneakers.
He discussed the sale of another pair of shoes with a child who was 15 years old and to whom he had previously sold sneakers over the messaging app Snapchat.
The youngster gave his word that he would go out and buy a pair of Air Jordans and meet the man who was 18 years old on July 6.
They decided to meet at the unincorporated portion of Lake Villa located at the 37000 block of North Parama Avenue.
After the victim arrived, the juvenile went up to the victim and asked to see the shoes; the victim then showed the shoes to the juvenile.
