Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy Season 2 Release, Is It Cancelled Or Not?

Most isekai anime heroes are transferred to a fantastical realm by the gods. The contrary is true, though, when it comes to the protagonist of the anime “Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy.” Even though his narrative of coming to another planet follows many conventions of the isekai anime genre, the fact that the show’s main character is genuinely reviled by a deity makes him unusual among isekai protagonists.

Despite its popularity, the makers of this 2021 anime have decided to make a second season. The series is a self-described “social reform fantasy,” based on the same-named light novel and manga series by Kei Azumi (via Anime News Network).

At least some anime viewers have taken notice of “Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy” due to its unusual premise. As a result, as the second season of the show approaches, it’s worth paying attention to. With that in mind, here’s all we know about “Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy” Season 2’s release date, cast, and narrative so far.

Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy Season 2 Release Date

Unfortunately, there isn’t much information about “Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy” Season 2 by animation studio C2C. The crew of “Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy” announced the series’ renewal on the official “Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy” website. The update, however, did not specify when the show will return to the airwaves.

For comparison, C2C’s last series, “Wandering Witch — The Journey of Elaina,” debuted in October 2019 and was released over a year later. We may anticipate a similar production cycle for Season 2 of “Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy.” In other words, the program is expected to return in late 2022 or early 2023, depending on the season.

Crunchyroll has streaming rights for the first season of “Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy” in all regions outside Asia, so fans would be able to see it there. Crunchyroll will very certainly be the only method to view Season 2 for fans in the Western Hemisphere.

Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy Season 2 Characters

“Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy,” like much other isekai anime, follows an ordinary guy who is sent by a goddess from real-life Japan to a new and wonderful fantasy realm. When Makoto Misumi (Natsuki Hanae) gets called in “Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy,” he believes he will be given a great new existence (via Myanimelist).

That is, until the goddess who summoned him finds Makoto so repulsive that she banishes him to the wasteland’s furthest reaches. Despite this setback, Makoto is still more strong and more prosperous than practically everyone else on the planet.

However, his prosperity isn’t only due to his colossal magical abilities. Makoto has a few pals, namely Tomoe and Mio, who are voiced by Ayane Sakura and Akari Kitou (Myanimelist). Tomoe and Mio are formidable dragons and spider-monsters in their own right, but after each of them suffers losses at Makoto’s hands, they make contracts to serve him as his minions. They explore, trade, and work together to make the world a better place.

Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy Season 2 Storyline

Makoto fights Sofia Bulga (Miyuki Sawashiro), a formidable adventurer, and Mitsurugi (Souma Saitou), a dragon, in the Season 1 finale of “Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy.” For whatever reason, the two have chosen to join the demon army’s mission to wipe humans from the face of the earth.

Makoto, on the other hand, resists this, perhaps playing right into the hands of the cruel goddess who summoned him in the first place. It’s unclear what her goals are, but the fact that she’s starting to see Makoto as competition for his growing strength bodes ill for our protagonist.

Nonetheless, Makoto keeps doing what he does best: expanding the village of peasants, merchants, and adventurers that he has helped create inside Tomoe’s own world. Simultaneously, he desires a closer relationship with the humanity of this planet, something the goddess has worked tirelessly to prevent. When “Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy” Season 2 is published, we’ll find out whether Makoto succeeds in achieving any of his aims.

Final Lines

Even though the contract has been renewed, no release date has been set. However, since the anime was announced in September 2021, it is possible that it may be released in 2022 after a year of development.

“Wandering Witch — The Journey of Elaina,” a previous C2C series, premiered in October 2019 and was released a year later.

‘Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy’ is expected to return in 2022, assuming that it follows a similar timetable. For the time being, they are forecasts. Once the release date is confirmed, we will make sure to update this post.
