Yesterday (Friday, June 2), a savage dog attack claimed the life of a woman in her 70s. The woman was discovered by police after they responded to reports of a dog attack in Bedworth, West Midlands. A 52-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman have both been detained on suspicion of possessing an unallowed breed of dog and keeping a canine that is dangerously out of control.

A dog-related injury to the woman has her in the hospital, but it’s not serious. The individual was later granted police bail and freed. The canine has been transported to a safe location where it cannot endanger the public.
“This was a tragic isolated incident, and a full investigation is now underway to establish the circumstances surrounding it,” said Superintendent Sutherland Lane. “Thankfully, dog attacks of this sort are incredibly rare, but I recognize that the local community will be extremely outraged by this.”
