According to the police, an SUV jumped over into oncoming traffic lanes on Rollins Road in Round Lake Beach and collided head-on with another SUV, taking five individuals to the hospital. Two of those persons were in severe condition.
Around 12:30 p.m. on Monday, officers from the Round Lake Beach Police Department and the Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District responded to the area surrounding the Great Clips located at 528 East Rollins Road in Round Lake Beach.
Deputy Police Chief Ryan Rodriguez of the Round Lake Beach Police Department stated that the collision involved two Toyota RAV4 SUVs.
When it crossed over into the middle lane, one of the Toyotas was being driven by a woman from Fox Lake who was 54 years old and who was heading eastbound on Rollins Road.
The first Toyota drove directly into the path of the second Toyota, causing numerous persons to sustain injuries.
The Toyota travelling in the opposite direction had two people inside, including a man from Fox Lake who was 74 years old. Rodriguez stated that there were three people present in the westbound Toyota.
A man from Ingleside who was 20 years old was the driver of the westbound Toyota. One of its passengers was 7 years old and came from Ingleside, while the other was 19 and came from Chicago.

Both Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville and Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry were used to treat the five victims after they were taken there by ambulance.
Rodriguez reported that both people who were inside the eastbound Toyota were taken to the hospital and were listed in critical condition.
The conditions of the three people who were travelling west in the Toyota have been brought under control. It was unknown how severe their wounds were at the time.
As a result of the collision, one of the victims reportedly was not awake, as shown by the emergency radio traffic that was transmitted from the scene.
As of Monday afternoon, Rollins Road was still closed between Civic Center Way and East End Drive as a result of the ongoing investigation into the crash.
Rodriguez stated that the incident is still being investigated by the Round Lake Beach Police Department at this time.
