Buddy Harrison Early Life & Career

Buddy Harrison was born on October 25, 1944, in Bastrop, Louisiana. He spent his childhood in Monroe, and he received his high school diploma from Neville in 1962. After finishing his time in the United States Army and spending some time in Florida, he went back to Monroe and started working in 1976 for his longtime buddy Jimmy Moeller of Bastrop, at Moeller’s, Inc., in the capacity of general manager. He relocated to Bastrop in 1994 and remained a resident there up until the day he passed away on February 2, 2008, which was a Saturday. He attended services at the First United Methodist Church, which is located in Bastrop.

Bud cherished both the natural world and the company of other people. He was an active outdoorsman who enjoyed duck and bird hunting, as well as fishing, and he really enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends. In addition to that, he found great pleasure in spending long hours in the fresh air frying or grilling his signature dishes, while reminiscing with his friends and making them laugh while he did so. His creations were, without fail, mouthwateringly scrumptious. In addition, producing pecans and peaches with his lifelong buddy Mike Mason brought him a lot of happiness and camaraderie at the same time.

Buddy Harrison was a 62-yr-old DC native. He was shot Saturday outside his home in the 2700 block of 30th St SE.

Bud had a deep appreciation for travel of all kinds, whether it was a simple drive through the countryside on the route to his cabin or a trip to an exotic locale in a resort city. He was a passionate sports fan, particularly of LSU football, and he enjoyed playing cards in his spare time.

Bud had a sympathetic nature and was generous to a large number of people. Bud was a man of strong faith and a forgiving attitude, qualities that lifted up not only his family but also his friends. He had a special affection for his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and he showed it in a sincere and extravagant way.
