Police in Florida say an 11-month-old baby d!ed after being left in a car in the sun for several hours as his co-pastors attended a service at their church. The youngster, whose birthday was this week, was found unresponsive in the car around 1 p.m. on Sunday when the parents were inside the Mount of Olives Evangelical Church in Palm Bay.
The church’s website states that the morning services start at 10:15. In a statement provided by the department, Palm Bay Police Chief Mario Augello expressed his “condolences and prayers” to the family.

It had been 79 degrees outdoors when police from Palm Bay arrived at the church and heard that the baby girl had reportedly been in the car for at least three hours. According to experts, a car just takes a few minutes to sit in direct sunlight. Less than two miles away, at Palm Bay Community Hospital, emergency room doctors struggled to stabilize the infant.

According to police, the infant was pronounced deceased at a later time. The authorities were trying to figure out who of the child’s parents had brought them to the church. This week, an autopsy was planned to identify the cause of death. Detectives in Palm Bay were looking into the matter.
