Produced by Rian Johnson and Ram Bergman for T-Street Productions, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is a 2022 American murder mystery film written and directed by Rian Johnson. Daniel Craig returns as master detective Benoit Blanc in this solo sequel to 2019’s Knives Out. Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson, and Dave Bautista are just a few of the talents in the film’s ensemble cast.
In 2019, when promoting Knives Out, Johnson left the door open to a possible sequel. It was confirmed in 2020 that he was writing another story with Craig in the lead. Netflix paid a whopping $469 million in March 2021 for the rights to produce two more Knives Out films. The shoot began in June and July 2021 on the Greek island of Spetses and proceeded elsewhere until September.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery Plot
At long last, the first official story elements for the upcoming Knives Out pseudo-sequel, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, have made their way into our hands. We now know how the star ensemble will factor into the proceedings as Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc does what he does best: solve murder mysteries, thanks to some meticulous detective work, which mainly consisted of reading an article posted by Netflix Tudum.
As if that weren’t intriguing enough, the article then adds the ominous line, “If Knives Out was about the lethal ties of flesh and blood, Glass Onion makes a compelling case for being just as wary of one’s closest friends.” It just keeps getting stranger and stranger.
Like the original Knives Out, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery features a star-studded cast that includes Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, Lakeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell, and Christopher Plummer in addition to Daniel Craig.
Daniel Craig is slated to reprise his role as Benoit Blanc in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, in which he will interrogate a star-studded cast including Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson, Dave Bautista, and Ethan Hawke.
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’s Rian Johnson, who is reprising his dual role as writer and director, has spoken about the high-stakes gamble that is assembling an ensemble cast. He explains, “You attempt to invite individuals you like.” But the truth is that you really can’t tell. At the end of the day, it all comes down to casting the best possible performers in each role.
As a result, you, too, throw the dice and cross your fingers. Fortunately, we have a fantastic team that works well together. One of the accused, WandaVision actor Kathryn Hahn, has said that the cast makes her feel like she’s seeing an “old school ensemble play” in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. “It truly did seem like an old school ensemble,” Hahn remarked of his experience working on the murder mystery sequel.
“Similar to my Yale course in many ways. All people were equally deserving of my undying love and affection.” The world premiere of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is set for the September 2022 edition of the Toronto International Film Festival. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will premiere on Netflix worldwide on December 23, 2022, just in time for the holidays.
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery hits theatres in November

SPOILER-FREE REVIEW by Andrew Webster: “solidifies Knives Out as the next great mystery franchise.” Personally, I couldn’t be more psyched. I adored the first Knives Out, and the sequel’s cast seems fantastic, what with Edward Norton, Dave Bautista, Kathryn Hahn, and Janelle Monáe all returning. The rights to a second Knives Out sequel were acquired by Netflix in a massive deal last year, so this isn’t the only one we can expect.
PEOPLE OF TWITTER! Leading up to our big Christmas release on Netflix, this Thanksgiving GLASS ONION will have a special one week only THEATRICAL SNEAK PREVIEW EVENT!! HUGE thanks to @AMCTheatres @RegalMovies @Cinemark and more. I’m very, VERY excited about this.
