On Thursday, August 18, 2022, the Hindu Mandir of Lake County in Grayslake, a Chicago suburb, celebrated Shri Krishna Janmashtami with much delight and fervour. The day commemorates the birth of Lord Krishna, who is regarded as Lord Vishnu’s eighth avatar. Numerous devotees flocked to the temple, which was decorated with flowers and decorations depicting various Krishna Leela, to offer their prayers and have a Darshan of Bala Gopal.
Many adorable children costumed as Lord Krishna and Goddess Radha were the day’s major draw. Following all the Vedic procedures and mantras, temple priests performed Lord Ganesh Pujan, Bala Gopal Pujan, and Radha Krishna Pujan in the evening. Also chanting Shriman Narayaneeyam was a group of devotees led by Rajesh Ramana. Additionally, three dance programmes featuring both children and adults were presented.
Numerous melodic Kirtans, Bhajans, and the Holy Names of Lord Krishna were sung in unison by Uma Iyer, Sangeeta Singh, and Ravi. While worshipers were chanting “Om Namo BhagavateVasudevaya” at midnight, Baby Krishna materialised from flower petals. After MahaAbhishekam, the deities of Radha and Baby Krishna received lovely new outfits, decorations, and flowers.
With tears in their eyes and a heart full of love and devotion for the Supreme Lord, they saw Lord Krishna’s Avatar. A live infant From the main entrance inside the Shrine, Krishna and his father Vasudev were welcomed to bless everyone with their beautiful smiles. The Lord received traditional homemade prasadam.
Pt. Anil Joshi gave a succinct speech on “Krishna Avatar.” He urged followers to uphold Dharma, the law of truth, and to love everyone, the environment, and all other living things. He also bestowed blessings on all of the followers for their health and prosperity in all of their endeavours. All the devotees received Maha Prasadam after Maha Mangal Aarti.
